Activity : K-3rd Grade: In addition to these worksheets you can play a few musical games with your kids

Have your child think of 3 songs in their head, have them hum or sing on "la" and try to guess the song.  Then switch places!

For Rhythm find objects around the house, this can be a pot with a wooden spoon, a metal leg of a table, a bell, a wood surface Get Creative!  Have your child tap out a rhythm with these different objects and then see if you can repeat them back 3 times in a row, go back and forth.

Note for the math rhythm worksheet:  A dot increases the length of a note by one half its value. A dotted quarter note is equal to a quarter note tied to an eighth note (or 3 eighth notes). A dotted half note is equal to a half note tied to a quarter note (or 3 quarter notes).

Activity:  K-8th Grade:  Play two of your favorite songs, one fast and one slow.  Visualize what you hear, dance or move around if you want.  With colored pencils, markers, crayons, watercolors or any other art supply draw the first picture or image that comes to your mind for both songs.  On the bottom of your paper write your name and the name of the song it was inspired by.  Take the week to finish it, If your parents are able to send a picture of your art I will post it on my website so you can see your other classmates pictures.  Bonus points if you can name the genre of music you chose as your favorite songs!
